Slipshod formed after the break up of the last incarnation of Room 27. That band (Room 27) in its final state was Tony Foo Yong on guitar and vocals, Cory Greene on bass, and Jerry Davis on drums.

After Room 27 disbanded for its final time Jerry and Cory continued to work together with
Jerry moving to guitar and searching for a drummer. Among the wave of breakups and member changes from 1999 in the Paducah Music Community was the Incredible Vegetables. The original
lineup was Adam Martin: Guitar, Ronnie McCoy bass, and Shelby Preklas drums.

During 1999 The Incredible Vegetables would decide to let go of their drummer Shelby Preklas who would be replaced by Bill Grubb who's former band was Anti Social League. Bass player Ronnie McCoy quit shortly after Shelby's release.

Adam and Bill replaced Ronnie with Jeremy Grimes and the band pressed on for a few more years.

Shortly after Ronnies departure from The Incredible Vegetables he gets a call from Jerry Davis who had seen him as a drummer with the shortlived hardcore punk band The Dawdles when Jerrys band "Hoss" was booked the same night. Jerry asks Ronnie to join him as a drummer in his yet to be named new project

Jerry, Ronnie and Cory begin practicing with Jerry at the wheel of the songwriting end of things the band decides on a name and that name is Slipshod, taken from a long list of words from the dictionary and a long list of phrases each agreed on finally narrowing the search down to one.

A few shows later the band decides to record with ex- Ozone Kite drummer Jason Griffith at his studio in Orlando Florida

Slipshod packs up a Blazer, and heads out to Florida for a week of recording and return with an album worth of material in hand and decide to independently release the cd.

Before the release the band submits their material to a local Battle Of The Bands sponsored by Ernie Ball. They get selected and shortly before add a second guitar player by the name of Randall Griggs who's previous projects at this time  included Teenage Rehab, Oddly Enough, and Pinwheel.

After the bands last place position at Battle Of The Bands Ronnie and Randall decide to leave the band prior to the CD Release show. Randall being left unreplaced since not being on the CD and Ronnie being replaced by Jason Griffith the bands producer of the their first independently released CD.

After Slipshod disbanded Jerry and Cory teamed up with Shelby Preklas to form Rookie Of The Year
Ronnie and Randall went on to form Punching Bag and a side project called Chewing Shoes with Cory Greene
