Danny Plunkette: Guitar Sam Fowler: Bass Thomas McCollum: Drums
The Divebombers had a very entertaining and very talented lyricist and frontman Bill "Bruiser" Whitfield, who had a way of drawing you in during and in between songs, a feat which takes some years to master. While watching a set by them you never wanted to go out for the cigarette break you would catch yourself taking during some bands performances. Danny Plunkette added to the catchiness and anthem like choruses with his simple yet very effective guitar parts which worked magnificently in chemistry of the Dive Bombers. Throwing the occasional solo really complimented the Dive Bombers "Lets just play and have fun" attitude. Sam Fowler's harmonies can be heard throughout the one and only release by the Dive Bombers, a very solid and talented bass player that layed perfect fills and perfect times throughout the existance of the Dive Bombers. Sitting in the cockpit of the drums was Thomas McCollum with his machine like rolls and unbelieveable knack for when to "turn it on" he knew when to take the wheel and when to sit back and just enjoy the ride. To me, a band like The Dive Bombers wont happen again, the feeling they gave you after you saw them, the feeling you get to this day from listening to the disc from front to back without skipping the "boring songs." That was the thing with the Dive Bombers, "boring songs" didnt exist, at that point in time those 4 people gelled so well that somewhere down deep you knew this was special and with all things so special, at some point they have to end and you look back on the memories of the live perfomances and the rare videos that still exist and say "I'm glad I was there to witness it" and for those that weren't, its something you will hear about for years to come. |
